In this article, we will take a look at her remarkable discography, highlighting some of her most acclaimed and popular albums and songs.

The Early Years: 1971-1986

Bonnie Raitt started her career as a young folk singer with a passion for blues and slide guitar. Her debut album, Bonnie Raitt (1971), showcased her distinctive voice and guitar skills, as well as her eclectic taste in covers, ranging from Robert Johnson to Stephen Stills. Her next two albums, Give It Up (1972) and Takin' My Time (1973), established her as a critical darling and a cult favorite, with songs like "Love Has No Pride", "Too Long at the Fair", and "Angel from Montgomery".

Raitt continued to release albums throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, experimenting with different styles and collaborating with various artists. Some of her notable albums from this period include Streetlights (1974), which featured a more polished pop sound; Sweet Forgiveness (1977), which contained her first hit single, a cover of Del Shannon's "Runaway"; The Glow (1979), which explored disco and funk influences; and Green Light (1982), which marked a return to her rootsy rock sound. However, despite her artistic achievements, Raitt struggled with commercial success and personal issues, such as alcoholism and drug abuse. Her last album for Warner Bros., Nine Lives (1986), was a commercial flop and received mixed reviews.

The Breakthrough: 1989-1995

In 1989, Raitt made a stunning comeback with her tenth album, Nick of Time, which was released by Capitol Records. The album was a huge success, reaching number one on the Billboard 200 chart, winning four Grammy Awards (including Album of the Year), and selling over five million copies in the US. The album featured songs written or co-written by Raitt, such as "Thing Called Love", "Have a Heart", and "Nick of Time", as well as covers of John Hiatt's "Thing Called Love" and Mike Reid's "I Can't Make You Love Me". The album showcased Raitt's mature and confident voice, as well as her refined guitar playing.

Raitt followed up Nick of Time with another blockbuster album, Luck of the Draw (1991), which sold over seven million copies in the US and won three more Grammy Awards. The album featured more original songs by Raitt, such as "Something to Talk About", "Not the Only One", and "Slow Ride", as well as covers of Richard Thompson's "Dimming of the Day" and Paul Brady's "Luck of the Draw". The album also featured guest appearances by Bruce Hornsby, Delbert McClinton, David Crosby, and Bryan Adams.

In 1994, Raitt released her twelfth album, Longing in Their Hearts, which also reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart and won two Grammy Awards. The album featured more collaborations with Hornsby, who co-wrote the title track and played piano on several songs. The album also included songs written by Raitt ("Love Sneakin' Up On You", "Feeling of Falling"), John Hiatt ("Circle Dance"), Michael O'Keefe ("One Belief Away"), and Benmont Tench ("You"). c481cea774
